Yuma-tough by design.

Desert slabs face brutal thermal cycling, alkaline caliche soils, and irrigation moisture. GFRP is chemically inert and has a thermal expansion close to concrete's — no internal rust pressure, no surprises ten summers in.

Residential code path.

GFRP is commonly accepted for residential flatwork and slab-on-grade under the IRC — check with your building department. Permitted structural work is designed by a licensed engineer under ACI 440.11-22 with ASTM D7957 material data.

Public works: sidewalks, curb ramps, medians.

Federally funded flatwork increasingly requires Build America, Buy America–compliant materials — and imported bar is disqualified. Installation

Your crew already knows how to do this

1 · Lay out on chairs

Same chairs, same grid you'd use with steel — typically every 3–4 ft so bars stay mid-slab. Bars this light won't crush chairs or sag between them.

2 · Zip-tie intersections

Zip ties instead of wire twists — about 30 seconds a joint faster, no tie wire injuries, no rust spots at every tie.

3 · Cut & pour as usual

Trim with an angle grinder wearing a dust mask. Then pour, screed, and finish exactly like any slab. Walking on GFRP won't displace it.
